~ December ~
Sunny finished the year 2006 as the Number 7th Hound in Victoria according to the Dogzonline Pointscore Competition as well as being the Top winning Basenji in Victoria for the 2nd year.

29-31st We did 4 shows at Lancefield this weekend and we had a lovely time even though the weather went from 1 extreme to the other! First we were freezing and then very hot and then finally on the Sunday it rained.
Sunny went BOB at all 4 Shows and BEST INTERMEDIATE IN SHOW in the Sunday Show; but best of all his baby daughter Shani won BEST BABY PUPPY IN GROUP at all 4 Shows and BEST BABY PUPPY IN SHOW on Saturday!!
Jinja came along with us on the Friday only and went Reserve Bitch (BB-2) in the A.M Show and then Bitch CC (BB-1) & RUBOB in the P.M. Show. It was a lovely way for Shani to finish up her Baby Puppy Classes & we are very proud of our little wriggly fly catcher !!

14th; Today Tanji left our Australian shores for her new home in Italy with Anna, Stefano, their Basenjis & doggy family. We wish Anna & Stefano all the best with their new baby Tanji. What an adorable little sweetheart she is!

Sunny wins his 11th RUNNER UP TO BEST EXHIBIT IN GROUP award (Best In Group-2) and his 35th Intermediate In Group award at the Bass Valley K/C.

~ November ~
25.11.06 at the Daylesford Agric. Champ. Show Sunny won his 7th BEST EXHIBIT IN GROUP award under Mrs D.Jolly from Sth Australia; and little Shani followed up her daddy's win by winning her very first BEST BABY PUPPY IN GROUP award!!

12th at the Basenji Club Of Victoria's Open Show Sunny won BEST EXHIBIT IN SHOW for the 2nd year in a row !!!
His daughters also did very well with Shani winning Best Baby In Competition in the morning; Best Head; Best Red/White Coat: Best Feet & in the afternoon Open Show Tanji won Best Baby Puppy Bitch (Opposite Baby In Show) & Best Head. Shani again won Best R/W Coat and Best Feet ......not bad for babies that haven't had any show training yet. Jinja & Coco both did well coming in 2nd Place in their Classes

~October~
At the Geelong Royal Show Sunny wins Runner Up In Group (BIG-2) under Mrs S Sutherland

14th we made the 13 1/2 hour trip by car up to Sydney for the NSW Specialty under Mr Magnus Hadstedt from Sweden. Unfortunately NSW was experiencing a heat wave and it was 38 degrees when we arrived in Sydney and then 40 degrees on the day of the Specialty. So not very pleasant for us or the dogs. Considering we reside in chilly Victoria and not accustom to such heat and humidity our dogs did well with Sunny coming 1st in Intermediate Dog even though he was mucking around while gaiting and ended up Opposite Intermediate In Show to the BIS winner who was also from the Intermediate class. Little Jinja came 3rd in the Intermediate Bitch Class in a rather large class. Needless to say we were extremely happy to safely arrive home after the trip and collapse into our own bed!!

9th Sunny won BEST EXHIBIT IN GROUP -1st and then went on to win BEST INTERMEDIATE IN SHOW under Mrs Lynne Harwood

`September~
25th- At the most Prestigious Show in Australia The ROYAL MELBOURNE SHOW SUNNY won the Dog Challenge and went RUBOB. This is Sunny's 2nd year in a row of winning the Royal Challenge. Jinja was 1st in Intermediate Bitch & Oki was 3rd in the Australian Bred Dog Class.

3rd - We are very pleased to announce that our Sunny created Breed History at 26 months + 21 days of age by becoming the youngest GRAND CHAMPION ever in Australia doing it in style with Runner Up In Group & Intermediate In Group Awards under Mrs V Morrow from NSW

29th - In one of her rare outings in Finland our Pitsi - Fin CH, FinJW-03 Afrikenji Kisaria did it again winning BOB and going BIG-3 at the Kotka show under Judge Frank Kane (Great Britain). Congratulations to Tiina and Pitsi!!

16th July...Pitsi's son Tepi aka Bulldobas Le Charmeur won his first Lure Coursing Competition with a CC today at the Karttula races. There were 9 Basenji competing so it was a very good win!! Congratulations Tiina Aaltonen and Tepi!!!

9th July. News from Finland...today Tuuli won her 3rd BOB in 9 days and ended up by going BIG-4. Go HERE for her BIG-4 Photo. Congratulations to her owners Janne, Hansu, & Tiina. This now makes it 4 BIG winners from our Hot litter! Sunny, Arrow,Jinja & now Tuuli !!

Sunny wins another 3 BOB & 2 x Intermediate In Group with David handling him for a change since I stayed home to take care of Coco & her new babies.

7th July Coco and Sunny are now the proud parents of 4 beautiful red and white puppies. 2 males & 2 females!



1st July -We just received some lovely news from Finland....Afrikenji Hot Sumabreeze aka Tuuli is a NEW FINNISH CHAMPION & she did it in style winning BOB at the Sighthound Specialty...Congratulations Hansu, Janne & Tiina !!!!!
So now our HOT litter has 3 Champions...Sunny, Jinja and now Tuuli !!! ....This makes our lovely Mali the proud mother of 6 Champion offspring....
Sunny also won another 2 BOB and Jinja was RUBOB as well

24th June at the Rovaniemi International Show in Finland this weekend Fin Ch Fin JW-03 Afrikenji Kisaria's daughter Bulldobas La Soprano aka Milla went BOB & BIG-1 Congratulations Marita, Rami & Tiina!! Go HERE to see photo's from the show. That makes it Millas 3rd BIG placing in the last 2 months
Also this weekend in Australia both Sunny and Jinja win BOB awards !

News from the Finnish Basenji Specialty. Congratulations to Tiina Taavitsainen for winning BEST IN SHOW PUPPY with 'Soni' & BEST OPPOSITE SEX PUPPY with 'Kerttu' who also won Best Gait. 'Myy' won Runner Up Best Bitch which makes her a New Finnish Champion. Our Pitsi won Best Bitch-4 & was also invited to compete for Best Gait. Congratulations to everyone!! !!!

At the European Winner Show 2006 in Helsinki with an entry of 49 Basenjis from all over Europe little Diva (Pitsi's daughter) now known as FinJW-05 EuJW-06:Bulldobas La Scala won BEST OF BREED & the European Junior Winner Title. As she was from the Junior Class she was too young to take the Euro Winner Title but was still BOB ! Tuuli won her Class with Excellent 1, & ResCC...Congratulations Tiina, Diva Hansu & Tuuli!!

Tuuli wins her 8th CC..Congratulations Hansu and Tuuli!

14th - Tuuli and Tepi made their lure coursing debut qualifying for the finals and finishing 2nd and 3rd. Go HERE to see them.

Sunny won RUBOB and Jinja beat her brother for Best Of Breed and also did us proud by winning BEST EXHIBIT IN GROUP at the Geelong & District Champ. Show - Thankyou to Mrs G Ford for this win! With this win Jinja now joins her litter brothers Arrow and Sunny as BEST IN GROUP winners and at the Caulfield Championship Show Sunny won BOB and Jinja was Best Bitch and RUBOB.

Coco has been mated to our lovely boy Sunny. Puppies are due in early July.

SUNNY is on a roll winning his 3rd BEST EXHIBIT IN GROUP in a row. 3 Shows for 3 BIG-1 awards!!!! This time under Mr J Connell from Tasmania. Jinja is having a break from showing at the moment while she is in full season.

~April~

29th ~ SUNNY wins BEST EXHIBIT IN SHOW !!!!!! at the Central Victorian Canine Club's Championship Show. Thankyou to Mrs Stephanie Rickard - we are just sooooo proud of our little boy who is really turning heads & considering we have 3 bitches in season at home its amazing how well he performed !

25th..In Australia Sunny wins another BEST EXHIBIT IN GROUP-1 under Mr S.Wailes and Jinja wins Reserve CC (BB-2)..... This win means that Sunny now has over 700 points at only 22 months of age.....
In Finland little Milla (Bulldobas La Soprano) wins BOB and BIG-3..Congratulations, Milla, Marita, Rami & Tiina !

The oldies decided it was time to show the youngsters how it is done with both Coco and Oki winning Best Of Breed awards at the last couple of shows we attended.

In Finland Tuuli won her 7th CC with Best Of Breed (exc 1,BB1,CC)with a lovely critique from Soile Bister

At the Bunyip & District Championship Show Sunny won his 8th RUNNER UP IN GROUP (BIG-2) award under Mrs D.Duffin of Makuba Basenjis. We would also like to congratulate New Australian Champion Tengku Tahlia. "Tahlia" gained her final 2 points needed to gain her title; Congratulations Mick & Tahlia! Tahlia is almost 9 years old which makes this a very special achievement !

~March ~

11-12th - we went away to Noorat (near Camperdown) for the weekend and had some great results. 2 shows on Saturday and then 1 show on Sunday. Out of those 3 shows Sunny won BEST OF BREED & BEST INTERMEDIATE at all 3 shows & RUNNER UP BEST IN GROUP (BIG-2) at 2 of them. Coco won Bitch CC, RUBOB & BEST AUSTRALIAN BRED IN GROUP and Jinja won Bitch CC & RUBOB as well. On the ferry trip back home we were thrilled to see some dolphins surfing the waves alongside the ferry !

~February~

Our Basenji Specialty Show is over for another year and we had some lovely results:

Mali came first in Veteran Bitch 7-10 years & also won 'BEST DAM & PROGENY'
BREED CLASSES judged by Mr W Douglas
Sunny came 1st in State Bred Dog and Jinja came 1st in the State Bred Bitch Class.They then had to compete against each other and Jinja came off victorious over her brother by winning BEST STATE BRED IN SHOW. And Coco came 3rd in a very strong Open Bitch Class
Congratulations to all the other winners on the day too !

~ At The Classic Dog Show on the 11.2.06, Sunny was BOB and shortlisted for Best In Group but ended up going 'Best Intermediate In Group', Jinja won the Bitch CC and RUBOB ~ Judge was Mrs W Boce

~ 29.1.06 Sunny did it again by winning BEST EXHIBIT IN GROUP (BIG-1) at the Tarago K/C under Mr K.Prior of Victoria. He now has well over 500 points to his name.

~CHERUB~

20th January was a very sad day for Australia. We lost one of the top winning Basenjis ever!
Ch Helios Lady Othe Nile aka "Cherub". Cherub was put to sleep due to a rapidly growing tumour. Cherub still looked so beautiful with her glistening deep red coat and in perfect condition. Cherub had won 3 x BISS and 3 x BIS All Breeds (her first Specialty win was from the Puppy Class) . Cherub was the most beautiful Basenji we have ever laid eyes on and we are so grateful to Denise Doyle of Helios Basenjis for allowing us to have one of Cherub's little angels to start us off in Basenjis. Cherub is the mum of our beautiful Mali and she lives on in her offspring, Coco,Sunny,Jinja, Tuuli, Arrow and Jorji. She will always have a special place in our hearts and be remembered as a very special Basenji and we know that Denise will miss her terribly.
As Denise said, "Goodbye My Lady".

26.1.06 at the Australia Day International Champ. Show a Hound Club Point Score Show, Sunny was BOB and then went on to win Runner Up Best Exhibit In Group (BIG-2) under Mr O Valverde-Calvo from Costa Rica and then under Mr Kraljic from Croatia Sunny went on to win Best Intermediate In Show !! Sunny's 4th Runner Up In Group in the last few shows....sister Jinja won the Bitch Challenge & RUBOB with Oki as the reserve Dog CC.

~ 15.1.06 at the Bacchus Marsh K/C Show a Hound Club Point Score Show, Sunny went BOB (20 pts) and ended up being awarded RUNNER UP TO BEST EXHIBIT IN GROUP(BIG-2) by Mrs V Carter (S.A). Litter sister Jinja won the Bitch CC(13) and went RUBOB to Sunny with Coco going Reserve Bitch CC

~ 6.1.06...Our first Shows for 2006 and we had a great time!
On Friday at the Central Gippsland Champ. Show- Judge Ms S Stasytis (Vic) gave Sunny BOB & RUNNER UP TO BEST EXHIBIT IN GROUP (BIG-2) !
Also we are pleased to intoduce our latest 'Australian Champion Afrikenji Hot Jinja Kiss' aka Jinja who went RUBOB to Sunny! and Oki was Reserve Dog CC

~ 7.1.06.... On Saturday at the - Central Gippsland Champ. Show - Judge Mr R Jeffs (Qld) gave Sunny BOB & Best Intermediate In Group, Oki was RUBOB
Jinja won the Bitch CC again and Coco was reserve Bitch CC

~...and on Sunday 8.1.06- Morwell/Traralgon K/C Champ Show- Judge: Mr K Iggleden (Qld) , Sunny was once again BOB & RUNNER UP TO BEST EXHIBIT IN GROUP (BIG-2) with Oki again RUBOB and Jinja winning the Bitch CC again too!
