29th-30th First of all our congratulations go to John & Hunter for winning RUBOB at the Lancefield Show in Victoria on Saturday!!
Also lovely news from Sunny's daughter "Mille" aka "Kingwanas Entertaining Story" in Norway. She attended and competed in her very first shows at the tender age of 4 months receiving very high praise from the judges and being awarded BOB puppy and BIG3 puppy out of a very large and strong group. Here's her lovely critique from the Judge:
"Feminine bitch of excellent quality and type. Beautiful, well-shaped head with correct proportions. Well placed ears, excellent neck and topline. Well placed tail that is carried correctly with a nice curl. Excellent body and substance. Correct body proportions. Very good mover from all sides. Shows herself with much style. Good coat and color. Nice temperament. Nicely shown."
Then on Sunday she did it again getting BOB puppy and going BIG 4 puppy. She is competing against puppies of up to 9 months of age in these groups. We couldn't be happier for a great start to little Mille's showing career & we send our warmest congratulations to Liv & co-owner Ellen!!!

Leeloo celebrated turning 6 months old by winning the Bitch Challenge & RUBOB to her Uncle Sunny who won his 110th BOB award & Hunter was also awarded the Reserve Dog Challenge (BD-2).
2nd - today was Leeloo's last show in Baby Puppy Class & we are pleased to say that she performed beautifully & ended up winning BEST BABY PUPPY IN GROUP under Ms A.Lenne & Uncle Sunny was BOB

24-25th - No shows for us this weekend but 2 of our furkids had a good weekend with their owners.....Firstly Congratulations to John & Hunter who won Best Baby Puppy In Group at the Sovereign City K/C Show on Sunday & was also Baby Puppy Of Breed at Daylesford the day before!!
...and more congratulations to Anna, Stefano & our lovely little Italian girl Tanji who did 2 International Shows in Zagreb, Croatia. Tanji again impressed the judges with her movement & type & added another 2 BOB, 2 CACIB' & 2 more CAC' , was placed in Group as well as claiming the sought after 'Zagreb Winner' Title....Thankyou & Well Done everyone!!!!!
11th at the Basenji Club Of Victoria's Open Show, Sunny went BEST EXHIBIT IN SHOW for the 3rd consecutive year !! & Best Red and White Coat. Our baby girl Leeloo won Best Baby Puppy in Competition in the morning Members Comp. & then in the afternoon's Open Show she came 2nd in the Baby Puppy Bitch Class. The little monkey's finally figuring out what the word "gait" means; She then competed in the Property Classes and won 4 out of 5 that she went in. Best Gait, Best Head,Best Tail & Set & Best Feet.
Coco came 2nd in Open Bitch and later won Best Veteran In Show !! Jinja came 3rd in Open Bitch & Oki came 3rd in the Open Dog Class. Hunter was Best Opposite Baby Puppy in Competition in the morning Members Comp. & in the Open Show he came 2nd in Baby Puppy Dog and also won Best Tri Coat
6th at the very large Sunbury International Show under Mr D.Eadie from Canada Sunny again went BOB and our beautiful Coco was awarded the Bitch CC & Best Opposite Sex. This was very special to us as it was Coco's very last All Breeds Show at 7.5 years of age.
4th at the Hound Club Specialty Show Sunny was awarded BOB & Oki went RUBOB. The Judge was Mr J.Grunheid of France......The Hound Of The Year Competition was also conducted today & we are pleased to report that our Sunny was the Top Basenji for the 3rd consecutive year!!
Tanji also competed in an International Show in Viterbo near Rome and went BOB with Cacib & Cac: Well done Stefano, Anna & Tanji!!!

20-21st - Afrikenji furkids around the globe had a very good weekend!!
Firstly Tanji travelled to Budapest in Hungary to do 2 International Shows there. The first day she was BOB with CACIB & CAC & the next day she won the CAC & CACIB as well! Congratulations Stefano & Anna!
Tuuli in Finland also attended an International Show & ended up winning Best Bitch 2 with Res CACIB! Well done Hansu!
Here in Australia our Sunny was awarded BOB - Oki was Res Dog (BD-2) & RUBOB & Jinja in her first All Breeds Show since having puppies won the Bitch CC (Best Bitch) & Coco also won her Australian Bred Class
Over in New Zealand baby Myoz also attended 2 Shows and won Best Baby Puppy Basenji in both of them; well done Donna!!
Sunny & Centa's Norwegian puppies are now 8 weeks old & have begun leaving for their new homes.
5 of them will be seen in the showring & 1 of them may be trying his paw at agility

7th - Our Italian girl Tanji travelled to Romania this weekend to compete & we are pleased to report that she won the CAC & R CACIB gaining her Romanian Championship!!!!....Congratulations Stefano, Anna & Tanji.....

29th We had to go back to the ROYAL MELBOURNE SHOW today for Sunny to compete for Group Specials after his Royal BOB win on Tuesday. First of all the BOB winners from each breed compete & the judge selects his best 8 dogs from the full Group line-up & happily Sunny was one of those selected. Then we had to wait around until the afternoon to compete again for a Placing in the Group. At the Royal Melbourne Show dogs are placed 1-4 for Best In Group. Soooooo we are very happy to report that Sunny strutted his stuff in front of the loud cheering crowds and he was awarded
BEST EXHIBIT IN HOUND GROUP 4th !!!!!!
It was a very special day for us with lovely memories that will stay with us for a long, long time. There were over 540 Hounds competing for the Group.

So far 2 of our breeding that have been tested have both come back as "CLEARS"
25th - It was Basenji day at the ROYAL MELBOURNE SHOW, which is the largest & most prestigious Dog Show in the Southern Hemisphere and takes place over 10 days. Judge was Mr Fernando Quilles from Brazil
......& we are very happy to report that our boy Gr Ch Afrikenji Hot Sumaknight aka Sunny won BEST OF BREED......this is his 3rd consecutive Royal Challenge; needless to say we are very proud of him!
Oki also did very well winning the Australian Bred Dog Class and came very close to getting the Reserve Dog CC to Sunny. Also Coco came 3rd in the Open Bitch Class !!

22nd - Congratulations to Tanji in Italy who went to a Show in The Republic Of San Marino today & became a "Young Sammarinese Champion & also won a placing for Best Junior In Show out of 40 dogs in the lineup; Congratulations Stefano & Anna! Tanji's Critique reads...."Excellent head, excellent topline, good angulation,Typical expression for the breed, excellent movement with big presence in the ring & excellent handling"... 15th-16th -Myoz entered his first shows today in New Zealand & he won Best Baby Puppy Basenji in both of them (with competition) & also won BEST BABY PUPPY IN GROUP in the morning Show as well! There were 10 other Baby Puppies in the Group lineup so a very good result for his very first shows; Congratulations Donna, Allan & Myoz!!
Sunny was awarded RUNNER UP IN GROUP (BIG-2) under Mrs P.Batty & Coco was Best Bitch, CC,& Runner Up Best Of Breed.
Leeloo had her very first show today & she went quite well for a first timer considering it was an indoor very noisy show.
5th - An earlystart at 3 a.m today to get Myoz to his flight on time. He left our Aussie shores and made the big trip to the "Land Of The Long White Cloud" where he joins Donna & Allan's family. We were very sad to see him go as we would have loved to have kept him for ourselves as he is such a delightful handsome little boy but we know he has a wonderful loving home & will have lots of fun with his new Basenji pack & what a good excuse to go holidaying in New Zealand ! :-)
Donna tells me that he came out of his airline crate wagging his tail and didn't seem as if he had even been on an overseas flight at all & she cant believe what a "cruisy" puppy he is !!
We wish Donna & Allan all the best with your new Ozzie boy and hope you have lots of fun in the showring !!

Coco also made an appearance in the ring since she is back home for a holiday with us and aquitted herself very well securing the Best Bitch award (Bitch CC). Even at over 7 years she still looks amazing!

Also Congratulations to Pitsi's son Tepi for his CQ! The competition was really tough with 20 Basenjis competing.
7th-8th Swedish Basenji Club Specialty Show. Judge was Mrs Cheryl Myers-Egerton- Canada.
Pitsi's daughter 'Fin S CH, FinJW-05, EuJW-06 Bulldobas La Scala' aka 'Diva' & our Tuuli travelled to Sweden to compete with lovely results for them both. Diva was awarded 'Best Opposite Sex In Show' as well as winning Best Gait, Best Red and White Basenji and Best Champion Bitch.
Then Princess Tuuli was awarded Best Bitch 2 winning the Bitch CC & with that gained her Swedish Title. She was also awarded 'Best Imported Basenji' & she was also shortlisted for Best Gait!! Apparently the judge took her time deciding between Diva & Tuuli for the Best Bitch. What a nice way for Tuuli to get her Swedish title with a Specialty CC.....See Pics HERE .

Wonderful news for the breed!!!!!
On July 14, 2007, the Basenji Health Endowment proudly reported that Dr. Gary Johnson of the University of Missouri has released the linked marker DNA test for FANCONI SYNDROME in Basenjis. As the first predictive test available for Fanconi Syndrome it is being used now to determine the probability of a dog carrying the gene for Fanconi Syndrome. Hopefully the actual "gene" will be identified soon but until then we have this DNA Linkage Test Now available. Go HERE for details and a link to more information.

23rd -24th Tanji won 2 more Best Of Breed awards at the Orvieto Int. & the Montecchio Emilia Shows & with Sundays win she became a new ...*Young Italian Champion*. I am told that she is very young to have achieved this title at only 12 months.....Congratulations Anna,Stefano & Tanji !!.

The judging was very tight with only a few Basenjis being awarded 'Excellent'. From 54 adult bitches entered only 5 'Excellent' ratings were awarded & we are very happy to report that Tuuli was one of them & she also ended up Best Bitch-3!!!! Congratulations Hansu , Janne & Tiina !!! Also Congratulations to Tiina for all the "Bulldobas" team of puppies successes. Best Opposite Sex Puppy was Bulldobas Rockin Redhead. 5 of the 8 puppies placed were bred by Bulldobas and 3 of those were Pitsi grandkids!! Soni was Best Dog- 3 with CC & Eino also won a CC. Milla (Pitsi's daughter) was placed 4th in Champion Bitches. Congratulations everyone!!
News from Pitsi's daughter Diva. Back in April Diva gained her Swedish title so she is now known as 'Fin & Swed Ch Fin, JW-05, Eu-JW-06 Bulldobas La Scala'. She also became the "Lure coursing Champion of Sth-West Finlands Kennel District"....Congratulations Diva,Katja & Tiina!!

We received some very exciting news from Italy 13.5 Rapallo International Show where Tanji was awarded 1st Excellent, Best Youth, Best Of Breed and finally BIG-2 and also BIS-2 Youth; Congratulations Stefano, Anna & Tanji!!!!
News from Finland...Tuuli is awarded BOS at the Oulou National. The judge from Sweden was quite tough with only 2 out of the 9 Basenjis entered being graded as "Excellent"...Tuuli's last four shows in Finland she has received 1 x BOB and 3 x BOS so we are all very proud of her
At an International Show near Rome Tanji was again rated "Excellent" and was awarded Best Youth under an English Basenji Specialist. Her critique of Tanji said that she ...."was" Very Elegant, excellent topline, beautiful head, excellent movement and that she was handled very well"... Congratulations Stefano & Anna !

We received some nice news from Italy where Tanji came 1st in "Youth Class" & got an 'Excellent' rating on the 21st at the Livorno Show & she also made a great team with a Junior Handler & together they won second place in the Junior Showmanship Competition; then on the 25th at the Ravenna National Tanji got another 'Excellent' rating & also won BOB !!! Congratulations Stefano, Anna & Tanji!!!
Janne & Tuuli went to St.Petersburg in Russia where Tuuli attained her Russian title...Congratulations Janne, Hansu & Tiina!!
Jinja has been mated to Ch Karamo Kongo Felix so all going well her puppies are due June 17th.

At the 2007 Victorian Basenji Specialty under Mr G Dymock (U.K) Sunny was 'Best Intermediate In Show' & also 'Best Headed Dog'; Jinja came 2nd in her Class & also won Best Feet In Show; Oki came 3rd in his Class & also won Best Gait In Show....this was Oki's 3rd Best Gait award at Specialty level.
Congratulations to all the winners on the day!
Unfortunately we could not enjoy this Specialty due to losing Shani the night before.
~March 2007 ~
It is with great difficulty that I write this. On the 24th March at 2.30 p.m. our beautiful Shani was stung by a "Jack Jumper" ant in her mouth. Within 1 minute she had gone into "Anaphylactic" Shock. After 4 hours of unsuccessful emergency medical treatment Shani was laid to rest at 6.30 p.m.
We are absolutely devastated and finding it very hard to believe she is gone. Goodbye our beautiful sweet baby girl........ ~ Shani will live on in our hearts with loving memories of the most fun loving, joyous, sweetest little yodeller ever! ~
Thankyou to everyone for the lovely cards, phone calls & messages. Your kindness & thoughtfulness was very touching & most appreciated.

Fin CH, FinJW-05, EuJW-06 Bulldobas La Scala aka 'Diva' (daughter of our Pitsi) is Number 2 Bitch in Finland - 2006 & our Fin Est Ch Afrikenji Hot Sumabreeze aka Tuuli is the Number 3 Bitch in Finland!!! Congratulations & well done everyone!

10-11th ...We received lovely news from Italy........Tanji travelled to Switzerland this weekend & delighted us all by going Best Of Breed at both International Shows that she attended. She also ended up winning "BEST PUPPY IN SHOW on the Sunday!!! Congratulations Stefano & Anna on a great start to Tanji's show career!!!......
More exciting news from Estonia where Tuuli became a new Estonian Champion at the Tallinn International Show - Judge Mr. Cristian Stavarache (Romania) !! So Tuuli is now officially known as 'Estonian & Finnish Ch Afrikenji Hot Sumabreeze'. Congratulations Hansu, Janne & Tiina!!!!
Here in Australia Sunny went BOB and Shani won her 7th Bitch CC (BB-1).
8.2 Sunny and Jinja's AVA / ANKC Hip x-ray results have arrived in the mail. We are very pleased to report that they each have a near perfect score of 1:1 Total=2 (OFA equivalent Excellent)
The Breed average in Australia is currently 6.9
We had a lovely time in the Showring at the Annual Pet & Animal Expo Dog Shows. The first day little Shani delighted us by beating her dad "Sunny" for her very first BOB award & another Best Minor Puppy In Group award. Thankyou John for handling Shani!
The next day's show was even more exciting with Sunny winning BEST EXHIBIT IN GROUP/INTERMEDIATE IN GROUP & Shani winning Bitch CC/RUBOB & Best Minor Puppy In Group & to top it all off really nicely Jinja then went in the ring and won BEST AUSTRALIAN BRED IN GROUP!!!!
The dogs also did us proud being great ambassadors for the breed with the public at the Basenji Breed Stand, enjoying lots of attention from all ages of people. Shani is now half way to her title and has 5 Best Minor Puppy In Group Awards in less than a month of shows!

At the Cranbourne Dog Club's Champ. Show which also had a full International Judging panel... Jinja came along this time......Sunny was again BOB , Jinja was Bitch CC & RUBOB & Shani was Reserve Bitch CC again.Then Sunny thrilled us by winning BEST INTERMEDIATE IN GROUP under Mrs Hunt from Canada & then.....BEST INTERMEDIATE IN SHOW under Mr J Hunt also from Canada.
20th Shani wins another RUBOB to her daddy Sunny and goes on to win another 'Best Minor Puppy In Group' award this weekend!
13th Shani again delighted us by winning another 2 Bitch CC (BB-1) & RUBOB to her father Sunny & a "Best Minor Puppy In Group" award. Her Sire Sunny went BOB at both shows.
Congratulations also to Ch Helios Bonfire aka "Rafiki" owned by the Curnicks who was awarded "The Oldest Veteran In Show" award at the Bacchus Marsh Champ. Show; Rafiki is 15.5 yrs old & still moves out beautifully!!
Our first Show for 2007 and Shani is 6 months so she is now old enough to compete for Challenge Certificates.
At the Morwell/Traralgon Show on the 7th January; Shani thrilled us by winning the Bitch Challenge (BB-1)against mature &: titled competition!!

29-31st We did 4 shows at Lancefield this weekend and we had a lovely time even though the weather went from 1 extreme to the other! First we were freezing and then very hot and then finally on the Sunday it rained.
Sunny went BOB at all 4 Shows and BEST INTERMEDIATE IN SHOW in the Sunday Show; but best of all his baby daughter Shani won BEST BABY PUPPY IN GROUP at all 4 Shows and BEST BABY PUPPY IN SHOW on Saturday!!
Jinja came along with us on the Friday only and went Reserve Bitch (BB-2) in the A.M Show and then Bitch CC (BB-1) & RUBOB in the P.M. Show. It was a lovely way for Shani to finish up her Baby Puppy Classes & we are very proud of our little wriggly fly catcher !!

14th; Today Tanji left our Australian shores for her new home in Italy with Anna, Stefano, their Basenjis & doggy family. We wish Anna & Stefano all the best with our little sweetheart Tanji.
