27-29th - At the very popular Lancefield & Central Highlands end of year cluster,
Sunny finished off another great year by being shortlisted for the Group twice and going BEST EXHIBIT IN GROUP from 151 Hounds at the CHKC 29.12.09.
Mokobi is now 6 mths old so he had his first shows up against the adults and did a great job by winning Res Dog CC/RUBOB to his Sire Sunny from an entry of 18 including 3 Grand Champions & Leeloo just back in the ring since having puppies won 2 x Bitch CC & a nice 18 point Best Of Breed. Her 10 week old puppies were very proud of their mum.

29th Sunny sends his Congratulations to his daughter Doberguard's Maya Masterpiece for her BOB & BEST EXHIBIT IN SPITZ GROUP -3rd at the large xmas show in Norway, her litter brother Doberguard's Master Of The Nile was Best Opposite Sex and sister Doberguard's Master Key To Kingwana came 2nd behind her sister so Sunny's kids swept the board!!
13th - Mokobi won another BABY PUPPY IN GROUP today at Maryborough. Congrats Dorothea and Muir!! Also Congratulations to Malawi for getting her title!
12th - Finnish Winner show 2009 in Helsinki - Entry 46. Congratulations everyone -
Tuuli was Best Bitch-2 and her daughter Maisa ended up as 5th Best Bitch with res-cc!!!
Tulii's critique: “ Elegant bitch. Beautiful head, very feminine. Good pigment. Dark eyes. Excellent ear set. Excellent anatomy, correct in every way. Excellent movement, slightly close coming. Good coat. ”
11th - The pups all went to the Opthamologist today for their eye tests and all came up with only very minor ppm which should clear and normal eyes. The Opthamologist was very pleased to see such nice healthy eyes.
8th - 11th - Sunny & Pitsi are both new grandparents in Norway! Sunny's daughter SBOS Nor Ch Kingwanas Entertaining Story had 6 pups on the 11th and Pitsi's daughter Bulldobas Be My Valentine had 5 pups on the 8th December. Congratulations everyone!
29th - Congratulations to Sunny's daughter. She went to the Norwegian International Winner Show today and was the Norwegian Junior Winner so she is now known as
Norsk JW-09 Doberguards Maya Masterpiece. Congratulations to her breeder Jeanette!!!!!

I've also heard from Arthur who has provided a loving home for Pepper formerly known as Tisha and she has settled in well and is getting along well with his Basenji boy Mister.

21st - Congratulations to Tuuli's daughter ‘ EstJW-09 Bulldobas Crown Jewel ‘, Hansu & Janne for a great show in Finland. At the huge Jyvaskyla International Show (6000 dogs) she won Best Of Breed from an entry of 30 Basenjis under Breed Specialist Mr Simon Parsons U.K and then under Mr Hans Lehtinen went BEST EXHIBIT IN SPITZ GROUP-2nd!!! Also congrats to Tiina Taavitsainen for Best In Show Breeders Group at the same show. Tuuli's kids Rene and Maisa were also part of that group.

Its been a very different experience raising a litter in the hot conditions we have had in Victoria the last few weeks. The air conditioner has had alot of use with many days in the mid to high 30's.
8th - We attended the Basenji Club Of Victoria's Specialty Open Show - Judge: Mrs Carol Hobday - It was a very hot and humid day but the dogs coped better than we did!
Sunny won BEST IN SHOW for the 5th year in a row! Clever boy! His dam Mali won BIS the year before that when she was over 8 yrs old. So thats 6 years in a row our dogs have gone BIS here :-)

Afrikenji Pure Sunshine aka Kayla came along with her folks and for a girl who is not a show dog she did a super job winning Runner Up In Show at the Members Competition as well as Best Head, Best Feet & Best Desexed Bitch. Then in the Open Show she won Best Desexed Exhibit In Show and both judges just loved her! Thanks for bringing her along and handling her Chantel !!
This is one of the biggest weeks with the largest shows (aside from the Royal Show) and entries from all over Australia in the Victorian Show calendar with exhibits from all over Australia and while exhausting was also alot of fun!
1st - At the Hound Club Championship Show - Sunny was Best Of Breed and Mokobi was Best Baby Puppy Of Breed - Congratulations to Karamo Mopanzi for Bitch Challenge at her first show up against the adults. Breed judge was Mrs M.Martin USA
2nd - Victorian Womens Championship Show Sunny was Best Of Breed & shortlisted for BIG and Mokobi was Best Baby Puppy Of Breed and was also shortlisted for Baby Puppy In Group. Breed judge was Mr O Nielsen Canada
3rd - At the prestigious Sunbury Canine Club's Melbourne Cup Day show - (over 2600 dogs) - Sunny was again Best Of Breed under Dr. E. Liebes USA. Many thanks to the Clubs sponsors for the Best Of Breed and Challenge trophies - 5 in total. The bottle of champagne (always a feature) will definitley be enjoyed later!
The puppies are now walking around and have eyes and ears open and are always looking for tickles and a cuddle. They seem to be very people orientated already. They are absolutely gorgeous of course!
24th- 25th - We received some lovely news from Sunny's son in Norway today. At the Tromso International Show - Nor Ch Kingwanas Epic Walkabout was BOB and BEST EXHIBIT IN GROUP

17th - Congratulations to Bkela Suni Mokobi for another 2 X Baby Puppy Of Breed and his first BEST BABY PUPPY IN GROUP at the Kyabram Championship Show. Mokobi was also shortlisted to the final 2 for Best Baby Puppy In Show. Well done Dorothea! From 6 shows Mokobi has now won 5 x Baby Puppy Of Breed.

Leeloo & Sunny's beautiful babies at 4 days old
13th - A very warm welcome to our little bundle of puppies which arrived today. An out of season litter from our sweetheart Leeloo and sired by our darling boy Sunny. 2 red /white boys and 1 red/white girl. Pups are beautiful, strong and healthy and Leeloo is a wonderful mother.....and I can now reveal that Leeloo was 6 weeks in whelp when she won the Royal Melbourne Bitch Challenge less than 3 weeks ago! Clever girl!

10th - Sunny & I made the long trip up to Sydney for the NSW Basenji Clubs Specialty Show with Cathryn of Karamo Basenjis and we had a lovely time even though very tiring. Mokobi showed his little paws and moved like a dream and won 5th place Baby Puppy Dog (he hasn't learnt to stack yet but boy can he move) & Sunny was Best Interstate Bred and 2nd place in Open Dog.
Leeloo was at home with David expecting puppies. Cathryn also did well with her pretty brindle puppy Karamo Mopanzi winning Best Brindle Baby Coat and 2nd place Baby Puppy Bitch.
30th - We've had a very busy time this week with lots of lovely news from the Royal Melbourne Show & Kyneton & Dist. show the following day.!

27th At the Kyneton and District Championship Show the weather was freezing, windy and rainy; not ideal Basenji weather at all but it didn't put Sunny off and he
was Best Of Breed under Mr Jarmo Vuorinen of Finland and then went on to win BEST EXHIBIT IN GROUP under Mrs Doreen Duffin of Makuba Basenjis.

A special win and very dear to our hearts as it was under highly respected Basenji Specialist Mrs D.Duffin.

ROYAL MELBOURNE SHOW 2009
26th - At Specials Day at the 2009 ROYAL MELBOURNE SHOW our darling boy MBIS/MBISS Gr Ch Afrikenji Hot Sumaknight aka Sunny delighted us by going BEST EXHIBIT IN HOUND GROUP 2nd !
The judge was Dr. John Reeve-Newson, a well respected Sighthound specialist from Canada. This is Sunny's 2nd time to place in the Hound Group at this show. Back in 2007 he was Hound Group 4th.
23rd - At the Royal Melbourne Show our little star Sunny did it again by winning his 5th Melbourne Royal Dog Challenge in a row and then winning BEST OF BREED and our little sweetheart Leeloo came 1st in Intermediate Bitch Class and followed it up quite nicely with the Royal Bitch Challenge (Best Bitch-1) & Best Opposite Sex. The thing that made it even more special was the fact the Leeloo was 6 weeks pregnant at the time. Well Done kiddies!

5th - Ida and Bono have done it again...!!! This time Sunny's son Nor Ch Kingwanas Epic Walkabout was awarded BOB and Best In Group-2!! We are so proud of Bono and his owner Ida who is only new to showing.
They have only done 9 shows so far and have already been awarded 6 x BOB and Best In Group - 2 , Best In Group-4 and he also
won the Open Dog Class at the Norwegian Specialty.

First of all wonderful news from the German Basenji Specialty where BIS Fin Ch Fin JW-03 Afrikenji Kisaria's son BISS Bulldobas Blockbuster has just won BEST IN SPECIALTY SHOW!! Congratulations Marcel, Anne & Tiina!!
As if that wasn't enough we then received news from Norway where Sunny's kids from 2 different litters had an amazing weekend - novice owner Ida showed Bono who attained his Norwegian Championship title at his first possible show.

At another show in Norway Sunny's kids took it in turns winning Best In Group Puppy. Doberguard's Master Of The Nile ended up by going Best In Show-3 Puppy on Saturday with his sister Doberguard's Master Key To Kingwanas taking the honours on Sunday with Best In Show-2 Puppy !!

We have just returned from a holiday in New Zealand & had a terrific time. While we were in Queenstown, New Zealand experienced its 2nd biggest earthquake in European history measuring 7.5 on the richter scale and our hotel was literally "rolling" for 20 minutes. Scary and exciting at the same time!

We also got to catch up with Donna, Alan & Oz aka NZ Ch Afrikenji Sorrento Moon & their Basenji pack while in New Zealand and I must say Ozzy has matured into a lovely boy with a gorgeous laid back temperament!
We also got a puppy fix with the latest Senjabi litter. Thanks Christine!

Sunny sends his congratulations to his Black/white kids in Norway - SBOS Kingwanas Entertaining Story who was BOB X 2 & BIG-4 & her litter brother Kingwanas Epic Walkabout for his 2 X BOB and BIG-4 last weekend!
Sunny also had another 2 x BOB and Leeloo was BB-1 & RUBOB. Sunny had been exhibited in 26 shows so far this year and has been BOB every time except for the Victorian Specialty where he was Best Dog and Runner Up In Show. He has just turned 5 years old and is still going strong so we are very proud of our darling cuddlepie.

I found these old photos of Zurii (below) I thought I'd share.
Zurii below imitating Jack The Ripper after stealing a chefs knife and running around the house with it. The photos are dark as they were taken in a hurry but if you look closely you can see the knife in his mouth that he had just stolen from the kitchen bench. These photos were taken some time ago but he still delights in stealing anything & everything he can. Funny old boy will be 13 years old on the 21st June.

30 - 31st May - Sunny sends his congratulations to his kids at the Basenji Specialty in Norway as judged by Mr B. Reynolds-Frost (U.K).
All 5 puppies from his last litter were shown and for 3 of them it was their very first show. Doberguards Maya Masterpiece (above) at her show debut was awarded Best Of Sex Puppy In Show! Sister Doberguards Master Key To Kingwana was 3rd & brothers Doberguards Master Gacoki and Doberguards Master Of The Nile were placed as 2nd & 3rd in the Puppy Dog Class. Pretty little Amali decided she didn't want to move so she was unplaced.
Sunny's older kids also had success with SBOS Kingwanas Entertaining Story (above) was awarded Best Bitch-4 and Best Black & White Basenji of the day.

19th - Congratulations to Sunny's son & his litter sister this weekend - At a Show in Norway - "Kingwanas Epic Walkabout" won Best Of Breed with CC & CACIB & Best Opposite Sex with CC & CACIB was Sunny's sister Tuuli who travelled from Finland & gained her Nordic title & also became a Norwegian Champion with these wins.
• • It is with a very heavy heart that I write that Pepe´ was laid to rest after an acute illness took him from us far too soon. Pepe´ will always have a very special place in all of our hearts and our memories as a gorgeous boy who lived life to the full and loved everybody. He loved nothing better than running and playing on the beach and thoroughly enjoyed his regular bush walks. He grew up thinking he was a Basenji and had the most fun loving playful and affectionate nature. He is dearly missed by Karly, Jordon, Keira and the rest of our family.

• 13th - We have just attended 3 of the annual Easter Festival Shows. Our results from 3 shows were Sunny was awarded Best Of Breed at all 3 shows with a RUNNER UP BEST EXHIBIT IN GROUP (BIG-2) at the final one and Leeloo was awarded the Bitch Challenge (Best Bitch) & Runner Up Best Of Breed to Sunny at 2 of the shows.
• 11th - Congratulations to our lovely Tuuli for her kids lovely results in Finland at the Lappeenranta International Show (entry 19 Basenjis) ~ Rene was Best Of Breed and litter sister Maisa was Best Opposite Sex !!
• At the Canine Museum Show under specialist Judge:Mrs Doreen Duffin (Makuba Basenjis) -- Sunny was Best Of Breed & shortlisted for BIG and Leeloo won Bitch Challenge (BOS). I had to laugh at Leeloo who was a funny monkey giving the judge a high ten when she came back to her during her triangle.
• At a double All Breeds Show today I only had Sunny with me & he went BOB x 2 & also Best Open In Group in the P.M Show.
14th - Congratulations to Sunny's daughter Tanji and owners Stefano & Anna in Italy for a wonderful achievement. Darling Tanji was awarded BOB today at an International Show & with this win has now achieved her International Champion title. So she is now known as

• • Well its now official that Int, Fin, Est, Rus, Swe, Lt Champion, LTUW-08 Afrikenji Hot Sumabreeze has been named # 2 Top winning bitch in Finland 2008 even though she took time out for motherhood. Her beautiful kids have also been highly awarded. SBPIS Bulldobas Cream And Sugar won the 2008 Finnish Puppy Of The Year Award and his pretty litter sister Bulldobas Crown Jewel was # 3 Top Puppy in Finland 2008!!!
• • This means that the brother/sister team of Sunny and Tuuli are the parents of the top winning progeny in both Norway and Finland in 2008! Congratulations to everyone involved ....we are so very proud of you all.
