Our Planned Litters

Meisie,Mali,Ruby, Macee,Nelson & Jorji - Our 1st litter
Puppies bred at Afrikenji are the result of careful planning & the research of pedigrees, taking into consideration conformation, temperaments, & health information. The puppies in a litter that are not for showing are available to lifelong family homes. As we do not breed every year we invite expressions of interest early. Serious puppy enquiries are always welcome.
Our puppies are raised in our home so that they are well socialised with normal household activities & noises. Puppies can leave for their new homes at 9 weeks of age. Puppies have been vaccinated, wormed, microchipped, vet checked & have been eye tested by a qualified Animal Opthamologist before they leave here. They are also registered with the Victorian Canine Association, on limited registration; which means the papers show all the puppies details and pedigree but the puppy is not for breeding or showing. They are also sold with a written agreement that they be desexed and will receive $50 back once we sight a copy of the desexing receipt or certificate.
Each of our puppies also take home with them a "Puppy Pack" which includes a folder containing diet sheets, loads of information, a favorite toy, a nylabone and food. We also advise that you leave a puppy blanket with us when you come to visit the puppies so that it can get the smells from his mum and litter mates on it to take home with him so puppy has some familiar smells to help settle him for his first few nights away from his littermates.
‹ !! To add a puppy to your life is a serious commitment for the lifetime of the dog so please think carefully about whether you have the time, energy & resources to care for your puppy into adulthood and old age. Basenjis can live from 13 -15 years on average so adding a new puppy to your family should never be an impulse decision. !! ›
As we love each and every puppy that we breed we are available for the lifetime of your Basenji for back-up advice, tips & guidance and we look forward to updates & photos from time to time. If at any time your circumstances change and you find yourself unable to care for your dog any longer please contact us and never leave your Basenji at a shelter.

NOTE: If you are thinking about adding a basenji puppy to your family please make sure to ask the breeder if the parent dogs have been tested using the DNA Fanconi Marker Test (kidney disease). They will be able to show you the certificate stating the dogs Fanconi status.
The test was released in 2007 & and is very simple to do, so ALL litters bred after that date should have at least 1 parent that has tested
Probable Clear / Normal by DNA.
This is the only way to ensure that your puppy will not develop Fanconi Syndrome - (a fatal kidney disease). For more information please go to these links:
